Synopsis:

Dryads investigates into the process of translation from visual images to physical actions and choreographic material. The word 'cleaving' (in its double meaning) and the image of a tree, grounded and open towards the sky, have been the starting point for the creation of new material, triggering both visual and kinaesthetic imagination.

Together, the Choreographer and the Composer, questioned the meaning of 'timbre' as an aspect which is relevant to both sound and movement composition. The performance offers a great occasion to observe and challenge our habitual responses to auditory experience, encouraging more awareness and attention to the sound-context we are immersed in.

The piece is made of succeeding 'moving pictures' which are juxtaposed and not smoothly linked, each characterised by a well defined quality and group configuration, alternating solos, duets and group sequences.
