Irene Fiordilino - Scirocco Dance Theatre Company
Invisible Cities
Interdisciplinary performance (2021)
Two explorers vainly attempt to trace the shape of the ever-changing 'Invisible Cities'… but the maps they draw are as ephemeral as their own journey.

Homing in on Home
Dance Film (2021)
In a foldable, Escherian looking room, the threads of space tangle with the threads of human life. Linguistic clues and gravitational paradoxes turn into a script for surreal narratives.

In-Material
Performative Installation (2020)
A surreal landscape of (un)familiar objects, aphorisms, movement and interactive tasks, wondering how far imagination can go without denying the concreteness of reality.

Trinacria
Performative Installation (2019)
An ongoing process of embodiment and inhabitation, challenging the concept of ‘shape’ while investigating into the meaning of cultural identity.

Self-portrait in yellow shades
Physical Theatre Solo (2017-20)
An intimate reflection on the antinomy contained within the concept of self-portrait: author and character, painter and portrait, subject and object. A challenge for the audience to reconsider themselves when looking at any image.

On-track
Contemporary Dance Solo (2019)
Based on and inspired by Luc Ferrari’s piece “Far West News, Episode No.1”, this piece alternates abstract and symbolic, nostalgic and ironic, leading the audience into a collective (train) journey.

Upside Down
Multimedia Perfomance and Partcipatory Event (2018)
A multilayered performance in a modular space, aiming to question the relationship we have - as individuals, as citizens, as humans - with the space we (de)construct around us.

Concrete bones and Metal joints
Dance Film (2018)
This film originates from a site-specific exploration of an in-construction house in Bangalore, India. The roughness of the site effectively counterbalances a nostalgic sense of 'incompleteness'.

Square Mythologies
Contemporary Dance Solo (2018)
A collaboration with Architect Virna Koutla. A research-based project focusing on the notion of the 'absurd' and the relationship between language and space.

Dryads
Performance for Dancers and Orchestra (2017)
A collaboration with Composer Janet Oates. An investigation into the 'sound qualities' of movement, with a particular focus on the relation between music and choreographic scores.

Ex Eadem Matre
Physical Theatre Performance (2017)
A collaboration with Performer Delia Fiordilino. A dreamlike atmosphere of childhood games to reflect on the Artists' fraternal relationship. An occasion to investigate into the threshold between verbal and kinaesthetic languages.

Looking for a dance
Participatory Performance (2017)
The audience - wearing a headlight each - illuminates and affects the ongoing performance. As light makes objects visible, so the audience's gaze validates the performers' existence.
Lightmotiv
Contemporary Dance Performance (2016)
An exploration of 'light' in its evocative potential. An abstract succession of recurring images, recalling the great variety of luminous sources which illuminate our life, from stars to house-lamps, from neons to fireworks.
